The very successful E.U. funded TRADEIT initiative, led by the Institute of Technology Tralee, will hold its next event for traditional bakers on December 1st. The TRADEIT initiative aims to foster innovation in traditional food producing SMEs, in the Dairy, Meat and Bakery sectors through an ambitious programme of events and activities in nine regional TRADEIT Hubs across Europe. This event titled ‘Food Safety for Traditional Bakeries’ invites traditional bakers, and those with an interest in bakery production to attend a free workshop which will provide attendees with all they need to know in relation to food safety in the bakery space.
The ‘Food Safety for Traditional Bakeries’ event will take place in the SOLAS Building, North Campus, IT Tralee, Co. Kerry on Tuesday December 1st 2015. Kicking off with a ‘HACCP Clinic’ and explanation of the requirements of the BRC Global Food Standard (latest Issue 7), followed by a guest speaker, Seán Daly from Bia Ganbreise in Ballingeary Co. Cork, a dedicated Gluten Free Bakery who produces a wide range of products in its BRC A Rated facility. The workshop facilitators will also cover Day to Day Food Safety Management and give tips on the main aspects of food safety to get right every day. Safefood360 will also beam in for an online demo in their state of the art Food Safety Management Software.
Dr. Helena McMahon, TRADEIT Co-ordinator has highlighted that “Traditional and Artisan foods have strong credentials in the area of food safety, however it can be a challenge for small food producers to keep up to date with food safety technologies and new approaches. This is one of the key objectives of the TRADEIT project; to provide SME food producers with updates on and access to emerging innovations and best practice relevant to their businesses.”
The TRADEIT consortium is an assembly of European experts and leaders in technology transfer; innovation management and SME liaison activities; network management and collaboration; traditional food production; Dairy, Meat and Bakery; food safety, packaging and supply chain management; sustainability, social innovation; geographical labelling; and entrepreneurship. Traditional Food SME beneficiaries have key roles in TRADEIT governance, validate technology and knowledge transfer approaches and contribute to development of the Strategic research and innovation agenda.
If you are a traditional food producer, food researcher, food network member or co-ordinator, or are involved in the traditional food sector in any way, you are invited to join the TRADEIT network by going to www.tradeitnetwork.eu. Membership gives you access to the many events and activities occurring at the nine regional hubs around Europe in areas such as collaboration, innovation, entrepreneurship, knowledge and technology transfer.
